6th Migratory Birds Days in the National Park Lower Saxon Wadden Sea
From 11 to 19 October it is all about migratory birds. The programme with over 250 events of the sixth Migratory Birds Day in Lower Saxony is now available.
Over six million migratory birds stop over in the Wadden Sea in autumn on their way from the breeding areas in the Arctic to their wintering grounds in Africa. Only here they wil find enough food to complete their journey of thousands of kilometers. Some geese stay at the Wadden Sea the entire winter.
The programme of th Sixth Migratory Bird Days consists of 10 regional leaflets (each for the seven islands and three for the mainland) with events for all interest groups. You can chose from over 250 events like excursions on foot, by bus or by boat and get to know what is attracting the birds specifically to our coast. In addition, you can attend numerous lectures that display a variety of spectacular photos and background information about the migratory routes and understand their journey.
